Concept Sketch for house
A basic 3D render of some cubes was transformed through a sketch into the Telstra Connected Home; complete with welcome matt, mailbox, flowerbeds and a hills hoist out the back.
When Interbrand came to Flutter with a four week turn around time to produce five animations for the big launch of the T-Box, we grabbed Craig Redman and Karl Maier and didn't sleep until these five films were created. Craig and Karl's natural talent for creating characters made the duo the perfect fit for the connected world that Telstra had dreamt up. Flutter gathered a small army of animators to craft and deliever the animations, which have now been rolled out in-store at Telstra.

Concept Sketch for Shockwave
Countless notes are made throughout the animation process, and the Connected Home animations were no different. In this sketch the impact of falling blocks and the subsequent ripple effect is explored.
Illustration Artwork for Family Characters
What does a cube family look like? Jacky Winter's Craig Redman and Karl Maier prepared these character illustrations as texture maps for 3D.
Service Frame
Beauty is in the detail: a service frame from one of the five Telstra Connected Home animations.
Storyboard Sequence
One many highly polished and exacting storyboard sequences developed by 21-19; conveying every aspect of the film prior to animation.
Telstra Boy Setup
Introducing an animation character into his environment: a concept image of the Telstra boy.
Bird Study Animation
In this film, the flight of our Telstra block birds is studied.
Rolling Block Study Animation
How should blocks move in our world? In this study we employed a variable frame rate to our 3D sequences in order to give the final animation the look of stop motion.
Shockwave Study Animation
Here we see a work in progress animation of the fall blocks creating a ripple effect - not unlike a drop of water striking a still pond.
Wave Study Animation
Flutter were thrilled at the idea that the ocean needed to appear in the background of one of the animations. 21-19 embarked on a virtual holiday by lovingly simulating their own 'block' shore break. Surf's up!
